B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Minor in East Asian Studies)


During her time as an education consultant, Dr. Carrie Kizuka has successfully mentored and coached teachers from grades K-12.

Carrie has over 20 years of mathematics teaching experience. She taught middle school mathematics and science at an urban public school district in southern California, and high school mathematics at a rural public school district in southeastern Pennsylvania. In addition, she is currently employed as an adjunct mathematics instructor at a local Penn State University campus. She has taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Statistics, and Calculus.

Carrie has mentored several beginning teachers. In addition, she has provided professional development workshops at a number of school districts, as well as at regional and national mathematics conferences. She also currently teaches a number of graduate courses for educators on topics including: assessment techniques, reflective practices, motivation, kinesthetic learning, anti-bullying strategies.

Carrie completed a doctoral study titled “Teacher Beliefs about Providing Instruction for Gifted Students in Inclusive Mathematics Classrooms.” She has contributed to several education books, on the topics of differentiated assessment and instruction, and kinesthetic learning.

Before becoming a public school teacher, Carrie worked as a mechanical engineer in Kanazawa, Japan, and in Orange County, California.
